Anne Frank second post

Good job, girls and boys! I’m enjoying reading your posts and I hope that you are enjoying reading one another’s comments.

Now the schedules for the two books diverge, so this post is only for those reading Diary of a Young Girl, since you have another comment due soon. Those of you reading Light in the Forest will post in response to a different question later. Of course, you are all welcome to read your classmates’ responses, even if you are reading the other book.

Anne Frank had a small group of people living with her in the secret annex, so each of them is described pretty thoroughly in her diary. Pick one of those other characters about whom you had strong feelings—positive or negative—and tell why. Make sure to use some specific evidence from the book to support your answer.

Here’s the fun part—there can be no more than two comments on any one character. So if you already see two posts on Peter, you need to choose someone else (and remember, there may be someone ahead of you in the pipeline waiting to be approved—so you may get bumped to another character even if you don’t see two comments on the blog about your character). If I have several comments on a given character waiting in the pipeline which have been posted at more or less the same time, I’ll pick the BEST one and bump the others.

Better get going. . . .

Anne is a very interesting normal young lady she likes boys, she likes to read, and she likes attention. These are the things that most teenage girls like. It was a little awkward when she was talking about her body. I did not like that part it was very odd. I like it better when she talks about the fun things they like to do like listen to the radio, make sausage, and when she goes and talks to Peter. I still have some negative feelings about some of the things she talks about but, I have more posititve thoughts then negative.

Peter in the beginning I thought was a little…immature I thought that when Anne started to fall in love with him at first I was like wow! Because In the beginning Anne did say that she did not love him. And later when she is dating him she says he has no religion scuffs at Jesus Christ and Denies God. People like that I don’t really care for. Now if someone didn’t have a religion and kept quiet about it around other Christians and Jews that is not bad. But I think Peter is immature still and he is 17 (at the part where I’m reading.)

Peter Dan Vaan is a very good character from the book. He is much like Anne on the inside although they come across as very different. Peter is quiet and likes to talk to Anne in the evenings before mealtime. Peter is quite like other teenage boys back then. He hides all his emotions from everyone except Anne. The thing I don’t like about Peter is at the beginning of their time in the Secret Annex he seemed like a troublemaker. He always tried to read books that his parents advised him not to read. Then after his first year in the Secret Annex he began to become quiet and not noticeable till Anne started to talk to him in the evenings.

Anne is the main character of this book and also my favorite character. She loved to write and was in love with Peter who lives in the secret annex with her. I like Anne because she is very expressive through her actions and in her diary. The one thing I don’t like about her is that she never seems to get along with her mother very well. That would be very hard because I love my mother very much. I enjoy Anne because she enjoys herself. She enjoys learning, reading and writing too. But she also enjoys things that your typical teenager likes such as boys and movies. Anne is very unique in her own beautiful way.

Mrs. Vaan Dan is very moody, and can be quite harsh sometimes when she talks to Anne (in the book.) She is one of those ladies who thinks she's all that and she will get what she wants. I didn't like Mrs. Vaan Dan as much as I liked the others.

She is one of those evil characters in almost every story book. Just like a fairy tale, where there’s always a bad person, evil, or a person against good. I think her character is OK.

I chose Mrs. Vaan Daan for my character because she is very easy to describe because of her actions. Mrs. Vaan Daan is a very moody old lady who (as we all know) gets her way most of the time. She always picks on Anne about practically everything she does this lady does not know when to give people a break. Referring to her she was probably a very rich and spoiled child I really would rather not have her living with me because aside to all of the stress of the war you have a nagging lady with you that always puts you down.

Mummy is a mom, but it seems more to Margot than Anne. I think Mummy could've definitely been a better mom to Anne. I feel she is very unjust. I suppose Anne feels that way to. She is unjust because as I said in the beginning she is a better mom to Margot than Anne. I think Anne was right not wanting to pray with Mummy. As Anne said Mummy should be more of a 'Mumsie' to her kids. They should be able to confide in her, tell jokes, and share secrets. My only positive thought would be she can sometimes be that way to Margot.

Mrs. Frank is rather rude to Anne at times. She usually takes Margot's side in arguments and constantly criticizes Anne.Anne begins to try to create a better relationship with her mother towards the end of the book, but I don't understand how she could even try to achieve that considering her mother never did understand her and never made the attempt to understand her. I feel sorry for Anne. Her mother is almost mentally abusing her. Anne is forced to actually mother herself. I feel almost no compassion for Mrs. frank, and I admire Anne for being able to do that very much.
