Poetry Recitation Assignment

As promised, here is a copy of the assignment from your folder:

Poetry Recitation Assignment

Each student will recite a poem or poems at least one minute and thirty seconds long. Students may read the poem, but they will get extra credit for memorizing or partially memorizing it.

Students may work together, but if two students do a joint recitation, the minimum time is three minutes.

For this assignment, you will need to do the following:

___ Choose a poem and have it approved by Mrs. Garcia
___ Read the poem and make sure you understand it.
___ Practice the poem OUT LOUD and make sure you are using all the recitation skills we’ve learn in class.
___ Time yourself and make sure you are using the right amount of time for your poem.

Poem recitations will begin on Wednesday, March 11.

Happy Martin Luther King Day

I hope you are all staying warm and safe. I also hope you are working away at your English and reading tasks. I have pushed all the due dates back a day to let you let back to school and get organized (especially on the skits) but I am also expecting you to be keeping at your schoolwork even when we have snow days.

A great thing to read for this holiday would be Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. At the site below, you can both read it and watch a video of Martin Luther King delivering the speech. Inspiring!
